Galata Süheyla (Breakfast & Dinner)
About This Spot
Stepping into Galata Süheyla feels like slipping into a quiet, cherished corner of Istanbul where time softens and the day unfolds gently. Tucked away on a calm street in Beyoğlu, the restaurant offers a warm, inclusive embrace—part cozy neighborhood retreat, part welcoming dining room where familiar faces are soon joined by curious travelers. The pace here encourages slowing down, savoring each moment as sunlight filters through large windows or a fire quietly hums during chillier mornings.
The mood is unpretentious yet attentive, where kindness in service weaves seamlessly into the relaxed rhythm of the room. Whether you find yourself on the terrace watching life pass by softly beneath the old city’s shadow or inside near the hearth surrounded by comforting hues and well-loved details, the atmosphere invites lingering conversations and slow breakfasts shared with friends, family, or simply your own thoughts.
Galata Süheyla’s kitchen feels much like the space itself—rooted in tradition but never heavy. The smells of freshly cooked menemen mingling with freshly baked bread create an effortless welcome that lingers. At any given time, you might discover little favorites like a rich, melting muhlama or a gently spiced manti, each bite revealing folds of history and homely warmth. The homemade hibiscus tea, bright and floral, cuts through the richness with a refreshing note, hinting at the thoughtful simplicity behind the menu that feels as personal as the stories shared around the tables.
Visitors often find themselves returning, drawn by the balance of familiarity and quiet discovery that mingles with the friendly attentiveness of the team behind the scenes. Cats weaving between tables add to the gentle, lived-in feeling, while the steady kindness of the staff turns a simple meal into a quietly memorable moment. Whether you’re easing into the day with a solitary breakfast or gathering for dinner in unhurried company, Galata Süheyla offers a harmonious pause amid the city’s steady hum—a place to breathe, to connect, and to feel at home in the heart of Istanbul.

I had a wonderful breakfast at Galata Suheyla. From the moment I walked in, the service was amazing and I felt looked after for the whole duration of the meal. I ordered the Turkish french toast and the menemen with sujuk (Turkish sausage), plus Turkish tea. Both were great but the menemen in particular was delicious - very savoury, nicely spiced and seasoned. The food came very quickly as well which was a bonus. Highly recommend if you are ever visiting Istanbul and find yourself in the Galata area!

It was raining outside and my knees were about to give out when we reached this place- the first comfort we had was the warm fireplace inside. The next comfort was the food- truly turkish, scrumptious and excellent. The ultimate comfort was the kind people running this establishment. They have cats too! The waiters are friendly and they helped explaining to us all these foreign spread on the table. We ordered the Suheyla breakfast- our favourites are pumpkin with tahini and walnuts (they topup another small bowl for us). We love their cheese and fig jam, they go so well with the toasts.

We had such a delicious breakfast this morning that we came back for dinner! This morning we sat outside and the completely charming waiter served us menemen (eggs scrambled into tomato sauce) with savoury Turkish-style 'French' toast and a generous basket of fresh bread and simit with butter, honey and the most heavenly rose jam. Never even knew rose jam existed, and now I want to go home and try to make my own. We headed back for dinner of oruk meatballs and a divine olive salad with pomegranate molasses in the dressing. Hummus and the best plate of manti we've had in Istanbul. Prices are fair. Portions are good. The people on both shifts were lovely. And the space is charming and welcoming, whether you sit inside or outside. Can't recommend this place enough!

We came here for breakfast and overall it was a pleasant experience. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, located on a quiet street in the city center. Sitting on the terrace in the morning was especially nice. The staff is well-dressed and polite, and the service is calm and unobtrusive. Regarding the food: the simple omelet was tasty and well cooked, while the omelet with meat didn’t impress us much and felt quite ordinary. In general, the breakfast was good, but without a strong “wow” factor. Considering the price-quality ratio, there are places in Istanbul where you can eat better for less. That said, if you are staying nearby or just walking around the area, it’s a nice spot for a relaxed breakfast. It’s probably not worth coming from the other side of the city just for this.

What a delightful spot! We came across this place during our visit to the Galata Tower, and right away it became one of our favorite breakfast experiences in Istanbul. We ordered the Suheyla Breakfast (for 2 people) for our family of four—2 adults and 2 kids—and it was more than enough and absolutely delicious. The spread came with jam, honey, butter, two kinds of olives, a fruity jelly, egg bread(so good!), beef jerky, several cheeses, menemen(so so good), and four glasses of tea. Even though the set menu was enough for all of us, we couldn’t resist ordering more—we added eggs with sujuk and ended with a Turkish coffee(with sugar-delicious!) and a latte. Despite being in a touristy area, the prices were very reasonable, and the service was EXCEPTIONAL! They even treated us to homemade hibiscus, which was fragrant and delicious. Highly recommend!

Galata Süheyla Is an oasis in the hoards of crowds and tourist establishments surrounding Galata tower. The atmosphere is tasteful and peaceful. After a busy day roaming the area it was wonderful to have a relaxed lunch. Their food is delicious, filling and authentic. The warm staff elevate the experience further. Cannot recommend this place more

I had a truly wonderful experience at Galata Süheyla in Beyoğlu. The breakfast spread is absolutely complete and excellent everything from fresh local cheeses and olives, to warm pastries, hearty eggs and delicious spreads. The ambiance is relaxed yet lively, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout. If you're looking for a top-notch breakfast in Istanbul, this place certainly delivers!

Sensation Turkish breakfast place right near Galata tower. We had the enormous full breakfast between 3 with unlimited tea, Muhlama (a North Sea cooked cheese), Menemem (egg and tomato) and baked eggs. A must try!
